Ossabaw Island is the third largest of Georgia’s Sea Islands and lies along the Atlantic Ocean about 20 miles south of Savannah. The island encompasses over 16,000 acres of tidal marshes and 9,000 acres of high ground. Ponds, salt water creeks, one river and many sloughs, inlets, and beaches make the high ground of Ossabaw a complex of small islands. Broad flat ridges and shallow depressions comprise the western part of Ossabaw (Pleistocene soils), while steep, parallel dune ridges mark the eastern part (Holocene soils).
After passing through many private owners, the State of Georgia acquired Ossabaw in 1978 through a gift/sale agreement from the Torrey family and the efforts of Eleanor Torrey West.
The images in this album were made with a Sony A700 DSLR, the Lensbaby Composer, and various Lensbaby optics including double glass, single glass, plastic and zone plate/pinhole.

Demonstration of Japanese Shodo at the Roswell Budokan, September 17, 2008, by Shodo Master Shuji Horino.
Born in February 1942, Shuji Horino is the second eldest son of the famous calligrapher and founder of the Horino Shodo School, Tessen Horino. He began the study of calligraphy at the age of five. At the age of 32, he left his job at the Fujitsu Company to return to the School, and thus began his professional calligraphy career. Until 2002, Mr. Horino worked under his art name of Kosen Horino. In 2002, he succeeded to take his father's name and became Tessen Horino III. He is currently the Headmaster of Horino Shodo School and is soon to become the Grandmaster of Nihon Shoho Gei-justuin (Japan Calligraphy Academy). Each year, Tessen Horino III is invited by the Chinese government to exhibit his artwork; additionally, his work is showcased in England, Korea, Italy, the United States and of course, Japan.
